JOB DESCRIPTION |
As a Technical Writer/Editor, Level-2, you will be a key member of a large program team responsible for the integration, optimization, and security of various enterprise systems within a government agency’s public-facing marketplace. The marketplace, which is primarily hosted in an AWS cloud environment, serves as a platform for numerous third-party applications, systems, and services. This position will involve collaborating with both internal teams and external contractors to ensure the seamless integration of new systems and updates to existing ones while producing clear, precise, and well-structured documentation to support these efforts. Your role will include creating technical documents such as user manuals, reports, system specifications, and project deliverables, ensuring they meet contract requirements, agency standards, and relevant regulations.
You will research and gather the necessary technical and background information to develop these documents, collaborating closely with subject matter experts, project management teams, and stakeholders to verify and validate the content. This role demands a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of technical writing practices, and the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and organized manner, all while adhering to established guidelines and requirements. |
Job Duties |
Technical Documentation Creation & Editing
- Write and edit technical documents such as reports, user manuals, presentations, and system specifications.
- Develop outlines and drafts for approval by technical specialists, ensuring alignment with contract requirements.
- Collaborate with SMEs to ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation.
Research & Information Gathering
- Research and gather technical and background information for project documentation.
- Consult relevant resources to verify guidelines, regulatory requirements, and technical details.
- Ensure all information is accurate and aligns with agency standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Review and edit documents to meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure documents are well-organized and follow specified formats.
- Validate technical information for accuracy and completeness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with technical stakeholders to gather information for documentation.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to ensure clarity and consistency.
Documentation Management
- Organize and manage technical documentation for easy access and retrieval.
- Track project progress and ensure documentation meets deadlines.
- Keep all documents up-to-date with system enhancements and changes.
Document Review & Revision
- Participate in document reviews and suggest improvements.
- Revise documents based on feedback to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and address concerns.
- Present and revise documentation based on stakeholder feedback.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on best practices in technical writing.
- Suggest improvements to documentation processes for greater efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience |
Minimum Years of Job-Related Experience Required: 4 years
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Strong technical writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to produce clear, accurate, and well-organized documentation.
- Experience with documentation tools such as MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, or similar.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud services, enterprise systems integration, and IT security standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards, including federal and industry-specific requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent research skills and the ability to distill complex technical information into user-friendly content.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documentation tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in document version control and project management tools.

Education
|
Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Waiver Possible: 3-4 years of additional equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Certification(s)
|
One or both preferred:
- Technical Writing Certification (e.g., from the Society for Technical Communication or similar) is preferred but not required.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or similar cloud-related certifications are a plus but not required.
