JOB DESCRIPTION
|
As a Database Administrator - Mongo SME with extensive MongoDB experience, you will add your expertise to our team to help the customer overcome their most difficult challenges in database management. Gather internal and external customer database requirements, data, and diagrams for analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of database change requests. Review, Recommend and Update baseline schemas and provide infrastructure recommendations for enhancement. Employ expertise in the development and sustainment of databases, dashboards, and performance/data trend analysis. Use customer service expertise to help manage customer expectations, requirements, team tasks, and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise database solution. Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Provide on-the-job training to application POCs and database users. The team’s standard support hours are between 7 am – 9 pm EST and may include on-call support during weekends, holidays, or off-hours if/as required. |
QUALIFICATIONS

- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, other Engineering or Technical Discipline.
- OR 15 years related professional experience in lieu of degree.
|
|
- Industry recognized certification(s) helpful but not required.
|
|
- REQUIRED:
- At least 7 years’ experience in system and database administration and tuning using MongoDB, Oracle (19c and above) AND PostgreSQL in a Cloud-based enterprise environment. Support for Redis is also a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and/or Mongo Ops.
- Mongo-specific hands-on experience required:
- Installing and configuring MongoDB on servers including VMs and AWS-based EC2VMs.
- Analyzing and optimizing MongoDB based on transactional volume, data flow, query/report requirements to perform to expectations.
- Identifying and providing resolution for shortcomings or issues identified to include design, implementation, security, performance or architecture.
- Significant working knowledge of distributed database deployment, monitoring, and management.
- Working with development teams in an Agile scrum environment.
- Backup and Disaster recovery expertise for Cloud-Based MongoDB deployments.
- Oracle-specific required expertise:
- Use of OEM to monitor, manage, and optimize Oracle.
- Backup and Disaster recovery experience.
- Monitor Oracle logs, ensure performance baselines are maintained, troubleshoot Oracle issues.
- Resolve database performance/lag issues.
- Query optimization and problem resolution with Oracle 19C instances.
- Hands-on working Postgres experience to include instantiating Postgres instances, troubleshooting and resolving issues, monitoring performance, identifying issues and concerns, as well as making recommendations on possible corrective action.
- Experience with AWS EC2 instances for db hosting including start/stop and scaling.
- 3+ years’ experience with AWS GovCloud, specifically AWS RDS Oracle implementations and multi-region data architectures.
- Experience with:
- Linux and Windows OS.
- Shell and Pythion Scripts.
- Database security (4+ years) including administering user accounts, creating security policies, preventing leakage or spills, and securing database infrastructures from intrusion.
- Database monitoring (4+ years) including establishing baselines and thresholds, and database/infrastructure recommendations.
- Database backup and recovery of databases (4+ years) with at least 2 years in an AWS environment.
- Installing, updating and patching the above systems and software in production environments.
- Experience gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise database solution.
- Experience creating technical documentation and working as part of an Agile team and participating in Agile ceremonies.
- NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with the VA is a plus.
- Experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience with ServiceNow Visual Task Boards.
- Ability to work with customers and manage schedules.
- Ability to provide excellent verbal communications skills to effectively communicate technical information and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
